DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Lijun Mao (Institute of Modern Physics of CAS\, Lanz
hou\, China)\nThe High Intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF) is
under constructed in China. The main feature of HIAF is to provide medium
and high energies\, high intensity heavy ion beams for nuclear and atomic
physics. The Spectrometer Ring (SRing) is the most important experimental
terminal of HIAF. A 450 keV electron cooler is designed and will be instal
led to reduce the beam phase volume and improve the beam quality. It consi
sts of a thermionic electron gun\, collector\, acceleration and decelerati
on tubes\, homogeneous guiding magnetic field\, -450 kV high voltage platf
orm\, ultra-high vacuum system and so on. The electron beam with the maxim
um energy of 450 keV and current of 2.0A can be provided to cool heavy ion
beams with the energy up to 800 MeV/u. In this paper\, the status and dev
elopment of components of the cooler was introduced. The key technical cha
llenges including the homogenous longitudinal magnetic field\, the low-rip
ple high voltage system\, the electron gun and the collector were presente
 d. The schedule of the installation and commissioning was also discussed i
 n this paper.\n\nhttps://indico.inp.nsk.su/event/114/contributions/2691/
