Description

In recent decades, particle-in-cell simulations have become an integral part of researches in the field of thermonuclear fusion, plasma based accelerators and astrophysics. Due to the high resource consumption of this method, simulations are often carried out under the simplified conditions, such as infinite plasma or moving frame. However, the statement of the problem in which a beam of charged particles is continuously injected into plasma with the finite length is essential for many applications. In this paper, we present an algorithm that implements such an injection. Our PIC code with this algorithm has allowed us to study beam-plasma interactions at the spatial scales close to a real experiment on the GOL-3 facility at times up to 10000 inverse plasma frequencies.
