Description
Helical undulators are not so widely-used as the planar ones. It is partly caused by more complicated mechanical design. On the other hand, one of their advantages is the absence of high harmonics in on-axis radiation spectra. This property is very desirable for free electron lasers with optical resonator and some other applications. The simple magnetic design of such permanent-magnet undulator is considered.
