Description
A sensitivity study for the charged lepton flavor violating process $\tau \to \gamma\mu$ at the Super Tau Charm Facility is performed using a fast simulation. With the expected performance of current detector design and the luminosity of 1ab$^{-1}$ in one year, the upper limit of the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(\tau \to \gamma\mu)$ could be determined to be $1.6\cdot10^{-8}$. The sensitivity of this search is expected to be proportional to the luminosity. With a total luminosity of 10ab$^{-1}$ corresponding to ten-year of data taking, the sensitivity is estimated to be $1.6\cdot10^{-9}$, which is about 25 times improved upon the current best result.
