Description
Previously, beam injection from a linear accelerator into the damping ring of the VEPP-5 injection complex have been investigated. As a result, it was noticed that the beam regrouping occurs several times faster than the radiative decay time determines. The simulations carried out showed the occurrence of microwave instability on bunches injected into the storage-cooler, and the frequency at which this microwave instability manifests itself was determined. It is of interest which particular element of the vacuum chamber leads to such effects. For this, a 3D model of the elements of the vacuum chamber of the damping ring was built to calculate their coupling impedance. This is necessary for a complete simulation of the damping ring beam dynamics and determination of a specific element/s whose impedance has a greater effect on the occurrence of microwave instability. The results of the conducted research are presented in this article.
